WELCOME!

The Canton of Stedborough is a group in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA inc.) a non-for-profit group dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe. Our "Known World" consists of 19 kingdoms, with over 30,000 members residing in countries around the world. Members, dressed in clothing of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, attend events which feature tournaments, royal courts, feasts, dancing, various classes & workshops, and more.

The Canton geographically covers three counties of Florida; Manatee, Sarasota, and Charlotte. Members within these borders are members of the Canton. The canton is a child group to the Barony of Marcaster, which is geographically located to our north in the county of Pinellas. To our North East is the wonderful Barony of Wyvernwoode. All of these local groups fall within the Kingdom borders of Trimaris, which geographically covers all of Florida except parts of the panhandle. The Kingdom Website is found here at Kingdom of Trimaris the other groups websites can be found on the kingdom website under the heading of Listing of Local Groups. As you can see lots of fun can be had within an hours drive from these three SCA groups.

How did the SCA begin?
The SCA started in 1966, when a few friends who were history buffs and science fiction/fantasy fans hosted a big outdoor party in Berkeley, California. The invitation stated that a Tournament would be held on the first of May, summoning "all knights to defend in single combat the title of 'fairest' for their ladies."
